Zen Malik has told how he never gave up on his dream of playing professional cricket during six seasons as a trialist knocking on county doors.

And how heโ€™s determined to pay Warwickshire back for the faith the Club has shown in him after signing his first pro deal aged 26.

Malikโ€™s breakthrough came last summer when he amassed 624 runs for Glamorgan in the Second XI County Championship at an average of more than 100.

His standout performance came against the Bears in May when he recorded back-to-back centuries (134 and 164) and caught the eye of Warwickshireโ€™s coaching staff.

Stoke-born Malik spent two seasons with the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA) before joining Warwickshire on a two-year deal.

We caught up with Zen at a SACA training session at Edgbastonโ€™s Indoor school where he spent time helping other players hoping to break into county cricket.
