Bears Head Coach Jim Troughton, who completed all illustrations for the fascinating children’s tale, takes young Bears fans through the tale, which was written by Chair of the Edgbaston Foundation and close friend of the Bears, Rachael Wong. The book tells two stories; firstly of a young boy about to play in his first cricket match, and how he finds the strength to conquer his nerves. Interwoven into this first story is the one that inspires young Alex on the eve of his first match. It is the legend of Morvidus, the ancient Lord of Warwickshirc and King of the Britons. The legend of Morvidus gives us the enduring symbol of the ragged staff, still memorably placed on the Warwickshire cricket shirt and worn with pride by Warwickshire cricket players of all ages.
