Batter Chloe Brewer believes Bears Women will play a “brave, exciting” brand of cricket as they look to entertain fans in their debut season.

Brewer – who signed from Central Sparks last year having come through the ranks at South East Stars – said the team wants to embrace a fearless brand of cricket when their season gets underway on 23 April.

And the 22-year-old said the prospect of playing Vitality Blast double headers alongside Bears Men at Edgbaston is one that’s got her teammates buzzing.

“The focus has been not to be afraid to take the braver option,” said the 22-year-old. “To push the boat out when needed. We want to play a brand of cricket that’s exciting, what people want to come and watch.

“In the past I’ve perhaps been more of a traditional cricketer. One of the pre-season focuses for me has been believing in myself, to be confident and adding a proactive, explosive side to my game.”

We caught up with Chloe on a community dog walk in Rubery. It’s a scheme that pairs dog lovers with owners who have disabilities or who struggle to walk their pets.
