We recently caught up with former Warwickshire and Pakistan’s Waqar Younis, one of the best ever Fast bowlers, who literally put the reverse into swing. Waqar was devastating with the ball, taking 373 wickets in 87 Tests after making his debut back in 1989 when Pakistan took on India in Karachi and had 416 wickets to his name in 262 ODI matches.

Together with bowling partner Wasim Akram, he formed one of the world’s most feared bowling attacks. Younis has the best strike rate after Dale Steyn for any bowler with over 350 Test wickets and is the youngest bowler to take 400 wickets in ODI cricket. He became Pakistan’s Bowling Coach in 2006 before taking on the role as the Head Coach in 2010. Simply put, Waqar Younis is one of the greatest cricketers of all-time.

Check out our exclusive video with the man himself, who believes the youngsters are the key to Pakistan’s success in this summer’s ICC Champions Trophy and calls out Pakistan fans to “come and support the team”.

Pakistan beat South Africa by 29 runs

In recent years, the teams’ most memorable encounter was in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. Despite the excellent record South Africa has against Pakistan, it succumbed to the pace-bowling brilliance of Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Irfan and Rahat Ali. South Africa lost by 29 runs in a low-scoring rain-hit game at Eden Park.

Thanks to Sarfraz Ahmed’s run-a-ball 49 and Misbah-ul-Haq’s patient 56, Pakistan posted 222 in 46.4 overs against a strong South African bowling line-up.

Everyone expecting South Africa’s batsmen to hunt down the adjusted target of 232 from 47 overs with ease, but Pakistan’s Mohammad Irfan had a say in matters by getting Quinton de Kock out second ball. Adding to that, the rest of the bowlers chipped in, bowling South Africa out for 202 in 33.3 overs.
