Bears Men head out to the United Arab Emirates on Monday (10 March) as their pre-season training steps up at the Abu Dhabi T20 Super Cup.

Warwickshire are one of five counties, alongside Somerset, Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and Essex, plus the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA), competing in the second staging of the tournament.

Ian Westwood’s men will train at the Zayed Cricket Stadium complex from Tuesday before taking on Yorkshire (6am GMT) and Essex (10am GMT) on Saturday 15 March.

Bears – who won the inaugural competition last year – will play again in one of three Finals Day games on Sunday 16 March.

And the pre-season schedule also features a two-day red ball game against Nottinghamshire on Wednesday and Thursday 19-20 March.

First Team Coach Ian Westwood, said: “The facilities are first class, we know that from last year, and we’ll have the opportunity to test ourselves against quality opposition.

“The lads have worked really hard over the winter, in the nets. But this is our chance to get some solid sessions on grass in warm weather.

“We’ll get lots of overs in the bowlers legs and it’s a chance for the guys to compete for places with the season just round the corner.”

Warwickshire fans can follow Bears in Abu Dhabi T20 Super Cup action through the Match Centre.

Danny Briggs misses the trip for personal reasons. Jacob Bethell continues his recovery from a hamstring injury and Chris Woakes is not with the travelling party.

First team Coach Ian Westwood, Batting Coach Matt Walker, Bowling Coach Stuart Barnes, Second XI / Spin Bowling Coach Simon Kerrigan, Head of Athlete Performance Paul Greetham, plus physios and support staff also join the trip.
