Warwickshire have expanded Jonathan Trott’s position with the men’s coaching team for the 2022 season with the former Bears and England batter now working with his home county in an Assistant Coach role.
Trott, who ended his playing career in 2018 after winning five trophies with the Bears and 52 Test and 62 List A caps with England, initially worked as a consultant with Warwickshire on a set number of days in 2021. He will now work more regularly with the men’s squad to provide more coaching support and to mentor the players.
“This is a fantastic way for the Club to expand our close working relationship with Jonathan,” said Warwickshire Director of Cricket Paul Farbrace.
“He has experienced success at every level of the game, he knows the Club inside out and he is developing into an excellent coach. The players enjoy learning more from his experiences within the game but also in honing their skills for red and white ball cricket.

“Jonathan loves Warwickshire and he is relishing the opportunity to spend more time at Edgbaston, helping our players reach their potential. He is also very ambitious as a coach, so if we can support his development it’s excellent for both parties.”
Trott is now working with the Warwickshire men’s squad as they continue the final stage of indoor training in preparation for their defence of the LV= Insurance County Championship, which begins on 7 April at home to Surrey.
“It’s a great privilege to extend my time working as a coach for my home county,” said Trott. “We’ve got an excellent set of players here and seeing them win the Championship at Edgbaston was an incredibly proud day.
“However, we want to build on this success. We’ve got a proud history of winning trophies at Warwickshire and I want to support the players and give them the best chance of achieving much more success in the future.”
