Unfortunately the weather has effected many of the women’s performance matches throughout June.

The women’s 50 over match verses Staffordshire was abandoned meaning we have now had 3 games called off due to rain in this competition. Our first match at Edgbaston was also unfortunately called off due to rain. However the ladies will get another chance of playing at Edgbaston on the 17th July. Warwickshire Women still sit top of the table in the 50 over format and looking in a strong position with only 3 games left in this competition.

The Senior Development fixture (Army ladies) was also cancelled due to the weather and will look to be rescheduled later in the season. Their next fixture is this coming Sunday against a strong Lancashire team. Good luck girls!

Our under 17s have had a bit more luck with the weather managing to play 2 out of their 3 scheduled fixture. Their first game of the season was a double header T20 day against Lincolnshire and Staffordshire. The Girls started strongly in the T20 competition winning both games. Congratulations to Ria Fackrell who scored 56 not out getting the girls up to 114-6 on a tricky wicket against Lincolnshire. Then Bethan Ellis took 3 wicket in her 4 overs cementing the win by 55 runs. In the second game against Staffordshire the wickets were shared between all the bowlers restricting staffs to 78-9. The girls managed to knock the runs off in the 18th over. Winning by 4 wickets. Their warm up fixture in the 45 over competition was cancelled against Wales however this didn’t affect the team in their first ECB competitive match. Beating Staffordshire by 2 wickets in a tight game at the Edgbaston Foundation Ground. Well done to Grace Chaundy taking 3 wickets for 19 in her 7 overs.

Under 15s have had one game rained off, won one and lost one. A strong performance against Lincolnshire saw the girls win by 116 runs. Noticeable batting performance from Amelia Kite (42) and Sophie Davis (50*) got the ladies up to a competitive score of 195-5. With the ball Izzy Wong and Isabella Bottrell-Campbell took 3 wickets each, Hannah Murray and Molly Burke both took 2 wickets. Unfortunately the girls weren’t quite at the races against a good Staffordshire team and lost by 7 wickets.

Under 13s have managed to only play one of their scheduled games. Again a good performance against Northamptonshire means they are still unbeaten this season. Smitten, Sercombe, Langdell and Rucqaiyah all score 20’s to get the under 13s up to a score of 118 before Hannah Downs blew the top order away taking 5 for 9. Northampton were bowled out for 44 meaning the under 13s won by 74 runs.

Our under 13s development and 15s development haven’t played this month due to weather. Fixtures will try to be rescheduled if possible.

Finally our under 11 girls whilst not winning their 2 games this month against Northamptonshire and Staffordshire they have showed some promising signs of good skills, game awareness and ability for a very young team which is a positive sign for future games.
