Warwickshire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the signing of Middlesex seamer Ethan Bamber on a three-year contract.
The 25-year-old, with 191 First Class wickets to his name, will join the Bears at the end of the current season.
“We’re excited to see Ethan join our group and wear the Bear & Ragged Staff,” said Performance Director Gavin Larsen. “We believe Ethan’s a real talent who will continue to build on an impressive resume with the ball.”
The son of two actors, Bamber doesn’t struggle with stage fright. Despite his relatively young age, the right-armer will bring a wealth of experience to Warwickshire’s seam attack.
As England’s joint leading wicket-taker in the 2018 Under-19s World Cup, Bamber made his First Class debut that year, taking 28 wickets in six matches.
Since, he’s made 81 appearances for the Lord’s based outfit with 58 of those in First Class. This season, the former University of Exeter pupil, has dismissed 25 batters in nine outings.
“Warwickshire is a fantastic opportunity for me, and I can’t wait to be a Bear,” said Bamber. “Talking to staff at the Club, I believe Warwickshire and Edgbaston is the perfect place for me to continue my cricketing journey.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting up with the group this winter and preparing to win more trophies for the Bears.”
Westminster-born Bamber heads to the Second City following an impressionable first appearance at Edgbaston.
Taking five for 20, a career-best, in the first innings, Bamber added four for 71 in the second, to complete match figures of nine for 91 for Middlesex against the Bears last season.
Larsen added: “Ethan was highly courted around the game, and we’re thrilled he’s chosen to call Edgbaston home for the future.
“We’ve kept a close eye on Ethan’s developments over the past few years, so it was no surprise to see his excellent performance against us last season.
“Ethan is a skilful red ball bowler, and, with his age and experience, we believe he’s the perfect fit for our bowling unit going forward.
“We look forward to welcoming him to the Bears this winter.”
