Warwickshire will face Staffordshire in next summer’s Showcase Game on Sunday 21 July.

Mark Robinson’s side will travel to Knypersley, nestled in the northern part of the county, for the first time ahead of the Metro Bank One Day Cup.

The match forms parts of league-wide fixture break with 18 First Class counties each playing a National County in the 50-over format.

In 2022, the Bears visited Chester Boughton Hall, defeating Cheshire by 107-run, while last year’s clash at Sudbrook CC against Wales National County was disrupted by rain.

“These games are a great spectacle and will have a festival-like atmosphere with plenty of families watching on,” said Robinson, speaking after last year’s frustrating weather abandonment.

“It’s always great to get the county on the road and I look forward to seeing plenty of Bears fans.”

The fixture takes place two days after the Bears final Vitality Blast group fixture and three days before their One Day Cup opener.

Warwickshire kick-start their campaign on the road, facing Essex, Leicestershire and Sussex

The Bears have faced Staffs 28 times in their history, with three of those in a one day cup competition.

In 1987 and 1992, a young Allan Donald took 5 for 24 and 5 for 28 as Warwickshire won the opening rounds of the NatWest Bank Trophy.

Most recently, Shaun Pollock was named Player of the Match in 2002 as the Bears defended 193 to secure victory in the first round of the Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy in Stone.

The fixture takes place two days after the Bears final Vitality Blast group fixture and three days before their One Day Cup opener.

Tickets and arrangements for the fixture at Knypersley will be confirmed at a later day.
