Warwickshire Women have bolstered their squad for the Royal London Women’s County One-Day Championship campaign by signing New Zealand all-rounder Sophie Devine.

White Ferns star Devine, who has won 80 One-Day International (ODI) and 60 International T20 (IT20) caps, will join the Bears for the Whitson Bank Holiday weekend fixtures away to Berkshire, on Sunday 28 and Middlesex on Monday 29 May.

The Wellington-born all-rounder became the second player to score a century in the Women’s Big Bash League at the end of last year, with 103* off just 48 balls for Adelaide Strikers against Hobart Hurricanes. She also holds the record for the fastest half century in a women’s IT20, reaching the milestone in just 18 balls against India in 2015.

Darren Franklin, Head of Women’s Cricket at Warwickshire CCC, said: “Sophie has proven herself as one of the most exciting all-rounders in the world game.

“Her power hitting and ability to constantly put bowlers under pressure will be a major asset for the team in these two games. Additionally, her seam bowling will bolster our strong attack which already includes two internationals.

“We look forward to welcoming Sophie to the squad in the coming days.”

Warwickshire Women finished third in the Royal London Women’s County One-Day Championship last year, but currently top the table with three wins from three games against Nottinghamshire, Sussex and reigning champions Kent.
