All-rounder Chris Woakes has been released by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for Warwickshire’s home Royal London One-Day Cup quarter final against Essex Eagles on Wednesday.
Woakes (27) was yesterday named as England’s Player of the Investec Series after taking an English record of 26 wickets against Pakistan as well as contributing 177 runs at an average of 35.4.
He also played all five matches for England in the Royal London One-Day International Series victory over Sri Lanka, taking five wickets and scoring 112 runs in two innings, including a career-best 95 not out in the tied match at Trent Bridge.
Warwickshire versus Essex Eagles gets underway at Edgbaston at 11am on Wednesday morning.
