Chris Woakes admits he is delighted to extend his Warwickshire contract and is hoping to feature for the Bears as much as can.
Negotiations took place throughout the winter, but with Woakes’ England commitments and the West Indies tour early this year, pen didn’t meet paper until this week.
The all-rounder is still one of England’s crown jewels in all formats and although he is expecting another busy year, he’s optimistic that playing in front of his how crowd at Edgbaston will be a part of it.
“I’m obviously delighted to extend my time with the Bears as I’ve been here since I was a boy,” said Woakes. “I don’t see myself playing cricket anywhere else and this is my home. I’d sign here until I was 50 if the club allowed me too.
“I love coming back here and it showed last year with some strong performances. You always want to do as well as you can for your county and I’ve really enjoyed helping the team win games. I want to keep playing for England and win as many games as possible, but when available come back and do the same for Warwickshire.”
