Opener Rob Yates spoke of his delight after the Bears secured a seven wicket victory over Essex.

The 21-year-old carried his bat with a fantastic 120* which included 14 fours and one six.

“To take it over the line was a pretty special feeling,” said Yates.

|That’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and actually be there at the end and get the win for the Bears was something pretty special.

“Hopefully, it’s something I’ll do again and I can get that experience from it.

“We never doubted ourselves and we always believed we could win,” the Moseley product added.

“Once we went into bat it was a case of spending time until the middle and it wasn’t until 30 runs left we really thought of finishing the job.

“I’m just going to bottle that feeling up and try and remember it. I’ll enjoy that tonight and we look forward to Durham.”
