Plan your trip to Edgbaston

The following information will help you plan your travel to Edgbaston and offer transport tips to make your visit as enjoyable as possible.

But first, here are some top tips.

  • Plan your journey to and from Edgbaston in advance.
  • Allow enough time for your journey and getting into the stadium, the surrounding area can be busy near the start of the match.
  • Have your match ticket ready on The Hundred app.
  • Gates open 90 mins before the first ball.

Please note, traffic around Edgbaston on match days is extremely busy so give plenty of time to arrive.

Get to the ground

Shuttle Bus

Shuttle Bus service from Birmingham City Centre to Edgbaston Stadium will be running for all The Hundred match days.

The 501 Shuttle Bus pick-up point is located from right outside New Street Station on Smallbrook Queensway (opposite TK Maxx and close to the Bullring). The service is convenient for users of both New Street and Moor Street Train Stations.

Buses will be running back from the stadium to the city centre after the close of play.

A return ticket is £5 for adults and £3.50 for children (aged 5-15). Tickets are available to purchase in advance from the National Express mTicket app or from staff on the bus. Cash and card payments will be accepted.

 

 

Rail

Birmingham has great public transport links and we strongly recommend that you consider public transport so that you can make the most of your day with us.

Birmingham New Street Station is the main rail hub for the city with connections from all over the country. There are regular trains to Manchester and London, with a journey time under 90 minutes. We recommend that you book your tickets in advance and plan your journey.

 

Public Buses

There are regular local buses to the ground from south-west Birmingham and the city centre. National Express buses 45 and 47 have services between the city centre and Pershore Road which is a two-minute walk to the ground.

By Bike

If you live locally, Edgbaston easy to get to by bike with both the Rea Valley and the A38 (Bristol Road) cycle route close by, offering a safe way to travel to the stadium. Bike stands are available near the Main Reception.

 

Walking

Many attendees enjoy the 40-minute walk to Edgbaston from the city centre.

The walking route between Birmingham New Street Station and Edgbaston is straightforward with comprehensive signs and on selected match days our Cricketeers will be on hand to help you find your way.

 

Taxi Drop Off & Pickup

We kindly ask all spectator to arrange taxi drop off and pickup away from Edgbaston to avoid unnecessary traffic and to adhere to local parking restrictions.

 

Birmingham Clean Air Zone

Birmingham City Council has introduced a Clean Air Zone within the A4540 Middleway (Inner City Ring Road).

Edgbaston is not within the Clean Air Zone, however, if you drive through the Clean Air Zone area  in a car or van, you could be charged £8 per day if your vehicle does not meet the required standards. Driving on the A4540 Middleway itself will not incur charges.

You can check if you will be charged using the Government vehicle checker and view a map of the Clean Air Zone, on the Brum Breathes website.

Hotel

Edgbaston Park Hotel is a contemporary, four-star hotel just a five-minute drive away from Edgbaston Stadium.

It is the nearest hotel to the stadium and only two miles away from Birmingham city centre, with plenty of free parking – making them the ideal choice if you’re travelling via Birmingham’s main transport links.
