Benjamin aims to bounce back

Chris Benjamin will be aiming to bounce back after a frustrating 2023 in a Bears’ shirt.

His 2023 Vitality Blast campaign started in style as a destructive 46 off 28 balls in the Blast Off vs Yorkshire Vikings was decisive in swinging the game Bears’ way.

But he struggled for runs during the rest of the campaign, scoring 168 in 14 games.

Bears’ fans will be hoping Benji will be back to his aggressive, enterprising best in 2024.

“It’s an absolute dream to be playing for Warwickshire. To call Edgbaston your home is incredible.”

Chris – who graduated from Durham University in April 2021 –  fulfilled his dream of becoming a pro cricketer after landing a three-year contract at Edgbaston later that year.

His impressive form for the Bears’ Second XI earned elevation to the First XI and he seized the opportunity with both hands.

He was awarded a Hundred contract with Birmingham Phoenix and, back with the Bears, scored a maiden First-Class century against Lancashire on his County Championship debut in 2021.

The T20 specialist is closing in on 1,000 career runs in the short form having played just over 50 matches.
