Great player, great ambassador

Chris Woakes has come a long way since coming through the ranks at Aston Manor and Walmley.

Woakesy is now widely rated as one of the best all-rounders in the game. He is a World Cup winner and at the heart of England’s planning in all formats.

After making his Bears championship debut in 2007, the following year he topped our bowling averages with 45 wickets at 20.48 – and has never looked back.

“I’ve been at Warwickshire since the age of ten and it’s where I’ll always want to be.”

All Rounder

With his likeable, unflappable character, Chris is a real asset for club and country with both bat and ball, regularly delivering when the pressure is on in the final overs.

Most notably versus both India and Pakistan in IT20s and on that famous night at Edgbaston in 2014 where he sealed the Bears first ever NatWest T20 Blast Final triumph with an ice-nerved final over against Lancashire.

A great ambassador for club and country, when England commitments allow Woakesy on board, the Bears benefit from having one of the best players in the world at their disposal.
