Mousley fulfilling promise

‘Danger Mouse’ rounded off an impressive 2023 with a fully deserved call-up to the England Lions.

The 22-year-old local lad was the Bears’ leading wicket taker in the 2023 Vitality Blast with 21 wickets at just 7.42 per over.

He also scored 834 runs in the County Championship and Blast combined – and his performances saw him included in the Lions red ball tour of India in January.

He top scored in the first game of the tour with 60 from 66 balls against India A, and also claimed a wicket.

“Warwickshire means so much to me and I’m thrilled to have extended my stay. Since arriving as a young boy in the Edgbaston Cricket Centre, it was always my dream to play for the Bears at Edgbaston.”

Spinner-batter Mousley was given first-team opportunities in red and white ball cricket at the back end of the 2020 season. He seized them spectacularly.

He was blighted by rotten injury luck in 2021, suffering a broken finger early in the season and then, when recovered from that, breaking another one.

But he’s bounced back in determined fashion and, in 2023, signed a new contract that keeps him at Edgbaston until at least the end of the 2025 season.
