Briggs is Blast leading light

No-one has taken more domestic T20 wickets than Bears’ spin-bowling all-rounder Danny Briggs.

Briggs joined the Bears from Sussex in November 2020 with a track record of top-level success. The slow left-armer – who’s played eight times for England in white ball cricket – has now amassed more than 250 T20 wickets in England.

But he’s also made a significant red ball contribution and was a standout contributor to the Bears’ championship title triumph in 2021 with ball, bat and as a calming, steady, dressing-room influence when the pressure was at its greatest.

“I’m very excited to commit long-term to the Bears and hopefully we can consistently challenge for trophies. My family and I are looking forward to making this our home for the foreseeable future.”

His accurate, intelligent bowling throughout 2021 was pivotal to several vital championship victories and his lower-order runs arrived at key times to turn the flow of several matches.

More than any other type of cricketer, spinners just get better and better.

And Briggs is looking forward to more success with the Bears having signed a contract extension that keeps him at Edgbaston until at least the end of 2025.
