Top-drawer spinner heading for his peak

Danny arrived at the Bears from Sussex in November 2020 with a track of record of top-level success. But, as a 29-year-old spin bowler, his best years are still to come.

The slow left-armer has played eight times for England in white ball cricket and taken 568 wickets across all formats, including big contributions to two T20 Blast titles and a One-Day Cup with Hampshire.

“For several years Danny has been widely recognised as one of the leading spinners in the county game and he is an excellent addition to our squad.”

After seven years with Hampshire, he moved along the south coast to Sussex where he spent four seasons before signing a three-year deal with the Bears.

More than any other type of cricketer, spin bowlers just get better and better and sport director Paul Farbrace reckons the Bears will benefit from Briggs’ peak years.

“I like Paul’s exciting vision for the club and it aligns with what I would like to achieve in the coming years,” says Danny. “I’m looking to be part of all format success and I haven’t given up a strong desire to play at the highest levels again.”
