Dom joined Warwickshire from Surrey midway through the 2017 season to take his game to the next level – and has spectacularly achieved that.

Two superb seasons at the top of the Bears order earned him a call-up for England and he soon notched his maiden Test century – a memorable unbeaten 133 which underpinned an amazing win over South Africa at Newlands.

“I have absolutely no doubt that he has the ability and temperament you need to have a long Test career.”

With 22 Tests now under his belt, ‘Sibbers’ returned to Bears late last season, just in time to make a big impact in the last two championship games, both literally ‘must-win’, away to Yorkshire and at home to Somerset.

His 45 in difficult batting conditions at Headingley helped lay the foundation for the glory that was to follow. His two half-centuries in the Somerset game moved the Bears closer to that glory.

And as the title celebrations got underway that sunny late afternoon at Edgbaston, no-one was prouder or received warmer hugs than Sibley.
