Issy Wong - Edgbaston

Fast bowler Wong, one of nine Central Sparks players to join Bears Women has experience of winning the WPL with Mumbai Indians, as well as plenty of England experiences.

Beginning her career at Knowle & Dorridge CC, already 22-year-old Wong boasts an impressive cricketing CV having played in The Hundred for Birmingham Phoenix along with her 17 England appearances.

Wong has claimed 42 wickets in all competitions for Central Sparks since 2020, as well as being the first women’s player to take a hat-trick in the WPL in 2023 for Mumbai Indians.

“When I was growing up, playing for the Bears was always the goal, I’ve done that with Warwickshire Women but to now be doing that as a professional with Bears Women is next level and I can’t wait.

It’s a pretty exciting time. There’s going to be a whole new generation of girls coming through that will have the same end goal of doing this as a career. I think that’s fantastic.”
