Dazzling Debut

There was nothing not to like about the Warwickshire’s Bob Willis Trophy innings victory over Lancashire at Lord’s last September – but right up the top of the ‘like’ list was a dazzling debut by Manny.

In October 2020, the Birmingham-born seamer became the fifth home-grown Warwickshire men’s cricketer in the last two years to join the senior squad.

“Throughout last winter and ahead of this recent season, Manraj has put himself forward for extra sessions, but he has also shown an understanding of how a fast bowler should prepare by dedicating a lot of time to his strength and conditioning.”

Ian Westwood

Second XI Coach

A year on, having  been a Bear since Under 11s, and shone for West Bromwich Dartmouth in the Birmingham & District Premier League, Manny made his first class debut at the home of cricket – and looked capable and comfortable with bat and ball.

As impressive as anything about Manny is the strength of mind with which he overcame a major setback in his development after being deselected from the Edgbaston EPP. He impressed all by winning his place back in the following year. Next stop, that superb, sunlit debut at Lord’s.
