Welcoming a winner

When the Bears signed Tim on a two-year-deal in June 2020, they welcomed a winner. The former Yorkshire all-rounder’s career is littered with success at county and international level.

For the White Rose, he was a key member of the side which won the County Championship in 2014 and 2015. For England, he made his Test debut against West Indies at Lord’s in 2009 – England won by  ten wickets and went on to win the first 13 Tests in which he played.

In Test history, only Australia’s Adam Gilchrist can better that.

“I have still got a strong desire to continuing playing at the top level and to win, so hopefully I can pass on a bit of my experience to the young players who are coming through.”

‘Bres’ was part of England’s teams that won the ICC men’s World T20 in the Caribbean in 2010 and reached No.1 in the ICC Test world rankings in 2011.

It was at Edgbaston, in the 2011 Test against India, that he took the final wicket which secured that No. 1 ranking. Now he is delighted to call Edgbaston home.

“I always had Warwickshire in the back of my mind as somewhere I would like to play,” he said. “I’ve always liked the club and playing at Edgbaston. I think I will fit in well to Paul Farbrace’s plans.

“He is keen that I pass on experience to the younger guys and I will really enjoy that role, as well as playing my own game which I am really excited to keep going.”
