We look forward to welcoming you to Edgbaston Stadium. The following information will help you plan your travel to Edgbaston and offer transport tips to make your visit as enjoyable as possible.

But first, here are some top tips.

  • Plan your journey in advance to and from Edgbaston.
  • Allow enough time for your journey and getting into the stadium.
  • If you are using public transport, please remember to wear a face covering and keep your distance.
  • Gates open from 9am each day.

Public Transport

If you live nearby, using public transport is a great idea with a near-normal service now running across the region.

Before You Leave

Make sure you’ve got your tickets, confirmation of your negative COVID test and you’ve given consent.

Car Parking

Car Parking will be available via two official off-site car parks close to the stadium, approximately a 10-15 minute walk away. Each car park charges a flat rate of £20 per car in advance. You can book your car parking online here.

Red Car Park – Cannon Hill Park (B29 7ES)
Pink Car Park – Moseley Ashfield Cricket Club (B13 8NQ)

Car parking will be available on the day at the Pink Car Park, priced at £25 per car. This is available on a first-come, first serve basis. The best way to guarantee your space is by booking in advance.

There will be parking restrictions implemented on the streets around the stadium. To avoid the risk of parking penalties, make sure you are booking official car parking in advance.

We have a limited number of Blue Badge parking available on-site at Edgbaston. These will be sold on a first come, first served basis and can be booked online. Please enter via Pershore Road on the day and have your Blue Badge with you.

Rail

Birmingham New Street Station is the main rail hub for the city, with connections from all over the country.

With flexible tickets, enhanced cleaning and ways to keep you better informed, West Midlands Railway are ready to welcome you back when the time is right.

If you are travelling, there are a few things you can do to have a safer journey:

  • Keep your distance where you can.
  • Buy your ticket in advance online.
  • Wash or sanitise your hands before and after your journey.
  • Wear a face covering (if you can) for the whole journey.
  • Check how busy your train is before boarding.

Shuttle Bus – The 501

On each day of the LV= Insurance Test Match, we will be operating a shuttle bus service from Birmingham city centre directly to Edgbaston. This service will run from 9am each day with the pickup point opposite TK Maxx on Smallbrook Queensway.

When arriving at New Street Station, our Cricketeers will be on hand to direct you to the service which is outside New Street and a short walk from Moor Street.

A return journey on this shuttle bus service is available for just £5 per person. You can pre-book your ticket via the National Express app (from midday on 3 June) or you can purchase your ticket on the day.

We’re easy to get to by bike with both the Rea Valley Route and the brand new A38 (Bristol Road) cycle route close by.

Car parking is available to book in advance at our off-site match day car parks, a short walk from Edgbaston.

By Bus

We will be operating a shuttle bus service from the city centre directly to Edgbaston. You can buy a return ticket for just £5.

Public Buses

There are regular local buses to the ground from south-west Birmingham and the city centre. National Express buses 45 and 47 have services between the city centre and Pershore Road which is a 2-minute walk to the ground.

Walking

Many attendees enjoy the 40-minute walk to Edgbaston from the city centre.

The walking route between Birmingham New Street Station and Edgbaston is straightforward with comprehensive signs and our Cricketeers will be on hand to help you find your way.

 

Coach Travel

Coach services operate across the country to Birmingham Coach Station in Digbeth. More information on coach travel can be found at nationalexpress.com.

If you wish to book a private coach parking space this must be booked in advance by contacting 0121 446 3605.

 

Taxi Drop Off & Pickup

We kindly ask all spectator to arrange taxi drop off and pickup away from Edgbaston to avoid unnecessary traffic and to adhere to local parking restrictions.

 

Birmingham Clean Air Zone

Please note that from 1 June 2021, Birmingham City Council introduced a Clean Air Zone within the A4540 Middleway (Inner City Ring Road).

Edgbaston is not within the Clean Air Zone, however, if you drive through the Clean Air Zone area  in a car or van, you could be charged £8 per day if your vehicle does not meet the required standards. Driving on the A4540 Middleway itself will not incur charges.

You can check if you will be charged using the Government vehicle checker and view a map of the Clean Air Zone, on the Brum Breathes website.

 

Hotel

Edgbaston Park Hotel is a contemporary, four-star hotel just a five-minute drive away from Edgbaston Stadium.

It is the nearest hotel to the stadium and only two miles away from Birmingham city centre, making us the ideal choice if you’re travelling via Birmingham’s main transport links.

The hotel has its own train station – University – which is a short stroll from the hotel and runs a high-frequency service to and from New Street Station in just seven minutes.
