Report: Worcestershire v Bears, Second XI T20
Che Simmons struck 10 runs from three balls to win a nail-biter against Worcestershire Rapids at Barnt Green.
Chasing 150 to win, the Bears were 142/9 in the final over, needing eight runs from five balls with no wickets in hand. Simmons, just 19, showed incredible poise, striking a four, two, and match-winning four, via a ramp shot, to secure victory with two balls to spare.
It was another pleasing win for Mo Sheikh’s side, who have now won five out of six in the Central Group. Put in to field, Danny Briggs took 3/25 and Craig Miles led the support cast with 2/21 as the Bears restricted the hosts to 149/9.
With an experienced batting line-up, the top six all reached double figures, before the Rapids struck back with wickets at regular intervals. Opener Rob Yates top scored with 36 and Ed Barnard added 27, before Simmons’ heroics stole the show.
