Volunteers are the lifeblood of recreational cricket in Warwickshire; without them, the game would simply not exist.
The Cricket Collective is the group of volunteers that make cricket happen. It is the person who dedicates their life for 20 years, and the person who contributes 30 minutes every two weeks. It’s anyone who dedicates time to ensure that recreational cricket goes ahead and helps to connect and inspire their local community and it has never been more important.
This year, the awards will be celebrating more volunteers than ever before with 15 categories available. In addition to the new Metro Bank Champion of Girls’ Cricket Award, The Cricket Collective Awards will also include the ECB Coach Awards, namely Coach of the Year, Young Coach of the Year, and Outstanding Contribution – Services to Coaching.
Recognising the importance of volunteers in recreational cricket is important. Warwickshire Cricket Foundation hold an event called The Cricket Collective Awards every year to invite very special groups of volunteers to Edgbaston, present them with their awards, and hear their inspiring stories.
